2024 Meetings / Events
As usual, our quarterly meetings will be held at the Art Barn Building on the John Brown University (JBU) campus in Siloam Springs, AR. These meetings (underlined below) begin at 9:30 AM; arrive a little early if possible, so you can visit, get some coffee and enjoy a snack.
MARCH 9: Sherri Davis, from Springfield, MO will be giving a pet portrait demonstration and Randall Kronblad will review his tips on preparing digital images for submitting to juried exhibitions and the upcoming IAPS summer exhibit; deadline for submitting to IAPS is April 1. This meeting is also an opportunity to drop off your paintings for the OPS/APS Members Exhibit.
APRIL 4 - 26: This is the BIG OPS/APS Member Exhibit at JBU. Mark your calendars to volunteer and plan to be at the Opening Reception on April 11, 5:30 - 7:00 PM. Our exhibit Chairperson, Charles Peer will be discussing the show at our March 9th meeting.
JUNE 8: Margi Tucker will be doing a demo of her bird nests. Following her demo we will have a Member "Show & Tell"...bring one of your latest creations and share it with everyone.
JULY: OPS is hosting a 2-day workshop with Rita Kirkman on July 26 – 27. Please make plans to attend and learn her award-winning techniques. Details to follow soon!!!
AUGUST: When it is too hot to do anything else, we are tentatively planning an outing to Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville to discuss 5 paintings in depth. We may arrange to have lunch together while we are at the museum. More to come later!!!
SEPTEMBER 14: Charles Peer will kick off our morning teaching us how to make pastels from all those small pieces and the dust we collect. So, start collecting now if you don’t have any! Following the presentation by Charles, Clint Howard, from Harrison, AR, will be doing a demo on how to achieve reflections on water. If you would like more in depth instruction on his technique, come back after lunch and Clint will to stay until 4:00 PM to provide hands on help with painting for those interested. The fee to stay and paint with Clint is $10.00 per person.
December 7: We plan to have another “Painting Challenge” as we did last December, possibly another Shop and Swap and a Holiday luncheon. More to come later!!!
